ID48 Xhorse Transponder Chip

Check the chip ID, pre-coding requirements, programming equipment and vehicle compatibility before ordering.

The ID48 Xhorse Transponder Chip is a XHORSE vehicle transponder chip used for spare and replacement key programming with suitable diagnostic equipment. A transponder chip must be correctly prepared and programmed before it will start the vehicle; fitting the chip alone will not bypass or operate the immobiliser.

Check compatibility

  • Do not rely only on make, model, year or registration search, as vehicles can change systems on crossover years.
  • Match the chip ID, part/reference code and vehicle application against your existing key or immobiliser data before ordering.
  • Compatibility/use guidance from the product data: generating transponder.
  • Relevant chip/reference codes: ID48.

Programming required

  • Professional programming is required before the vehicle will start.
  • Some chips must be pre-coded or generated before they can be learnt to the vehicle.
  • This product may require pre-coding/preparation before programming, depending on the vehicle system and equipment used.
  • If the wrong chip is programmed, some transponders may lock and become non-returnable.

Tool and pre-coding notes

  • Xhorse/VVDI chips must be generated with suitable Xhorse equipment before use.
  • For VAG vehicles, dealer software such as ODIS can usually only learn a correctly prepared/pre-coded chip; it will not normally pre-code a blank chip for you.

Handling and returns

  • Glass transponder chips, especially ID48-style glass chips, can break easily when removing them from an existing key.
  • Check compatibility before ordering, especially if the vehicle is on a crossover year or has a different immobiliser system.
  • Once programmed, pre-coded, generated, modified or fitted, transponder chips are normally non-returnable.
  • Use the correct generation equipment for the chip brand; unsupported machines may not generate it correctly.
