Audi A6, S6 & Q7 OEM Ignition Micro Switch Button

A replacement OEM-style push button start / ignition micro switch button for selected Audi A6, S6 and Q7 models.

This Audi OEM ignition micro switch button is not a traditional ignition barrel switch. It is the small push button / micro switch used within the Audi start authorisation system, commonly associated with the J518 ignition/start module on compatible Audi A6, S6 and Q7 vehicles.

It may be required if the start button has become worn, sticky, intermittent, unresponsive, or if the vehicle does not react correctly when the button is pressed. Because this is a push button start switch, fault symptoms can sometimes be confused with a failed ignition module, immobiliser fault, key recognition problem, BCM/ECU issue, wiring fault or steering lock related problem.

Before replacing parts, we strongly recommend a full diagnostic check to confirm the fault. If the button or micro switch is confirmed as the issue, replacing the switch can be a more targeted repair than replacing a larger ignition/start module assembly.

When to replace

Useful where the push button is worn, sticking, cracked, has poor contact, or the vehicle only responds intermittently when the start button is pressed.

Important diagnosis note: If the key is recognised but the ignition still does not turn on, the cause may be the button, ignition/start module, immobiliser, BCM/ECU, wiring or another related electronic fault. A proper diagnostic scan is recommended before fitting.
